can gluten in the diet causes speech delay?

I have a son now 22 months. he hasn't had time to talk yet. I mean even not a word. so naturally I was worried. I took him to his PED. She put him in observation for a long time .. watched him play and all .. then said it is not autism. .. or any other disorder such as PDD-NOS or Asperger syndrome, or apraxia. Then she asked me to change his diet food. She told me to stop all kinds of wheat products as they move to gluten and other substitutes. my only question is Has that ever known such things to their children. A .. perfectly normal child with a speech delay which was caused by diet?? there is very vocal .. did all sorts of noises and sounds .. its just hasn't turned into a word more. its understamding also .. Very good but not 100%. if ever someone had a problem like this or if the power switching Kid anyones helped start talking pls let me know. Thank you in advance.

I feel like we are in the same situation! My daughter is 21 months and she said only a handful of words understood (Hi, Dad, uh-oh and a few others), but everything she says is gibberish. She talks a lot, and sounds of the letters are great, I just wish I could understand. I am increasingly worried and frustrated As time passes, because it is not English. But just like your son, it includes a ton and is solid on any other measure of development. I not heard of gluten-free diet to help speech, but I try to give a varied diet (she is kind of picky, so I try to only offer healthy foods). I am waiting until his visit two years old baby well talk to their doctor about the speech. Good luck!

2YO child who is being screen for autism ENT-MD is willing to place the tube is ears to language delay. Help?

Someone he had the same experience? And he helped to language delay? MD ENT lack placing tubes for fluids in the ears. The child had 5 infections the ear since birth and the words are clear.

Yes, my son had tubes in his ears and he was wonderful, after he held his ears, because everything seemed hard, although it is normal now. He learned to speak much more quickly, and the ear infections stopped. I thought they were a great thing, it was only 1 year and a half when they had done, good luck hope this helps

Mon is 2 now and it shows sighn of autism.he walks on his toes Tippy and cannot, he speaks dose yet.he make eye contact and it seems he dosent understand me sometimes. He dose would be alone, but not all time.Well dose, he wants to be played and huged with know.umm though.I just do I try to make him evaluated, but its not going to happen until December but did not open until then. How can I do about it? HES thearapy in speech, his manner of serving any person Bumble Bee help.has dvds? just wondering if they helped

Hello, I worked with many autistic children, and it looks like your child has a few yellow flags … and should certainly be evaluated as soon as you can do it in. Please see my website for more resources, products and information: If you are http://www.sensoryintegrate.com research ways to make him speak, is a great way to use something he loves and reward him with the words (or sounds), if he makes them. For example, if he likes Hershey's kisses, tell him to say "please" and if you get a word or sound, give him a kiss. You can use for children who love the cups. Let them ask what they want, even if they just say "please." In the case where a child is not able to do a lot of sounds or difficulty, you can teach him sign language basic (please rubs stomach in a circle) … and you can even make your own. But teach him things that are useful functional, and only focus on one at first. Please please is generally good. Another to add, then he can do, is "more". It is to the fingertips of both hands together, then to touch even a few times. Please & More are both very functional, and if he can say this much, atleast, it will able to communicate with you. I would also suggest asking the therapists for activities you can do at home with him that will encourage language. And basically, the more you interact with it, the more you play with him, show him things, and participate in his game, the better chance it will succeed. Good luck and do check my website for more resources and information. Jessica http://www.sensoryintegrate.com

Can you see signs of autism in infants?

I know that most children do not begin to show symptoms until 3 + years. But my question is, does anyone have children of autism, which began to show symptoms as early as two months? My son is 9 weeks old is not yet focusing on people, and everyone's comments on him. He begins to worry. He gets fixated on the ceiling and lights. He smiled, but only the voice, never faces.

Strenuosly Researchers try to find a way to diagnose autism by age 1, however, and under age 1, they found all the tests are only about 50% accurate, or half of those they think autism will not reveal too much. By age two, they are a little more specific. At 9 weeks, I would say it is impossible to judge.

Working with a deaf child! Any advice?

My son is 2 and 3 the end of September. I had some problems with him were trained pot. They say that when it was tested to enter the early intervention that there were grounds for concern with autism, but I think its his audience … Yeah, he loves the media, but just get the rest of his actions seem to be hearing. From the time he was a baby he studied peoples face reactions and vibration. So .. I do not think that his autism, but I'm having with him troulbe out of pull-ups … And a little more .. But my big goal for the summer has not yet been reached and he starts school in 3 weeks … WHAT TO DO? There anyway to help a deaf child being pot .. We also tried to teach him the signs, but sometimes her taste, it DONT get … It can be 10 and he acts like he is not getting the rest … Im lost … I do not know where it should be about three years in development first place. I know it must be late, but how the end of development? Any advice?

I also wonder … if your intervention program Early requires 3 years to be clean. Most that I have not been involved in … and help you in potty training being line during the day themselves. My son is 3 in August and we have tried pot for trained business … but true said … I do not think it will. His only "delay" is an articulation of time so it should not affect his potty training. Some Children simply do not care (especially seen in boys more than girls), others are simply not ready. I have a child in my office who just started coming to me in this week … boy … It is now 3 1 / 2. Although most people think the two is when you should start potty training and 3 is the magic number … this is not true. Technically, some children are simply not ready to 3.5 or about 4 … that's how their body is … not their fault or the lack of consistency of parents with potty training. So, my point is … it may be "your child's delays" that are making potty training … but more than just her physical development. Just stay consistent … I would not considered at the end of its development at all in this area. Keep doing what you do. As for sign language, 10 is very good. But I bet he has more he leaves the … If you are consistent in using it yourself … they understand more than what they sign. I found at least about 1.5-2 years is really when they grasp the concept … unless you are using to sign all time and for any … then 10 signs are good. Nearly 3 years are very good to "act as they do not get it" … is why some people still regard them as babies but … in reality, they are smart little cookies. Stay encouraged! Have you used the signature Time DVD's? I found that my children loved and repetition helped them learn the signs quickly. Good luck! Your early intervention program will be an excellent resource for you. Ask them for help … they love to help … so many times parents feel embarrassed or another and do not want to ask help, but this is that therapists are for this! Bring your concerns, they will help you find reasonable expectations. As a parent, it is easy for us to more all our expectations and we collect is dissapointment. We do not want that! I'm sure you're a great mom!

I'm really interested in learning more about autism and want to get a doctorate on a topic related to autism such as how to improve their communication and teaching strategies, or speech. What do you think?

An SLP and I am working with students with autism every day. To work in schools, you will need your masters. If you want to work in clinics and hospitals, you will need a year to complete your certificate of clinical competence (CCC). If you want be a Special Ed teacher, you can check it come together, or can it get after another year of school. Or if you decide to be special education teacher, you can take the route of education and obtain special education classes along the way. You will begin to pay higher rates if you get your masters. There is a huge shortage of speech therapists in schools right now, and there is a good chance that you'll immediately hired. Special education teachers tend to get hired within school districts by moving teachers around who are certified, so there is a less chance of employment. Personally, if you think occasions about, you'll have more as an SLP as you could work in schools or the medical field. As Professor Ed Special, you are limited to school. Anyway, you'll make a service worthy of praise. Regarding autism, you can also go to school to become an expert autism and be recruited by clinics or schools. teachers of special education for the mild to moderate and moderate to severe students to work with students more difficult, while learning disabilities teachers and emotional behavior of teachers Disorder can have more opportunities to work with students achieved higher operating autism, such as those with Asperger. Good luck. I highly recommend you go visit a school in your area and ask all teachers to follow above and therapists for a day or a week. This should help you make your choice.
