Tips on a charity can swim?

Hello, I have been swimming in an indoor pool for some time doing a session 3k and now interested in doing my own charity swim to raise awareness about autism that I have an autistic son. The swim is a distance of 10 km from the beach at Aberavon Wales south in a straight line mumbles lighthouse, so it's a 10k swim directly out to sea. I wondered only if safe to do?? I plan on training about nine months before attempting the swim. All advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

First of all, I applaud your ambition, and I wish you all the best with it. Because you ask for subject to Y! A, I guess it will be a solo effort, rather than part of an organization endurance? And you do not know personally know someone who has already done this swim? If so, without wishing to dampen your enthusiasm, and the risk of stating the obvious, I trust you already realize that the 10 km swim in the cold, open water will be much more physically demanding than swimming 10 km in a warm, calm pool. wind and water conditions have a major effect. For such a small ship power as a swimmer man there no such thing as a "straight line" to the sea – you'll be thank you to the wind and currents of the majority of your swim, and it will take more time disproportionately (for example, if 10 km takes you 4 hours in the pool, it will probably 6 + hours at sea, which is a half-tidal cycle). Temperature is also a major issue. If you intend to train for nine months, you'd thought of doing this swim in that year from April to May next? There will be about 12 ° C, if you're lucky. I suggest you wait until later in the year, ie August-September, when the Time water will be higher – each level! Sorry I can not give you more specific advice, but here are some things to consider: 1. Train until you can do 15 miles with a band, or 50% more than your 2 linear distance. Wear thin "Farmer John combination of style, does not restrict arm movement. This will help keep you warm and give you some extra buoyancy. And do not forget your sunscreen. 3. You will need a boat – you know someone who could help this? 4. You'll need to familiarize yourself with the prevailing currents in the region, and if / how they change with the tides. The local coastguard are you more information on the specifics of your region. (In these disputes and health and anxious days of security, you can even get a permit for what you want to do, not to mention permission to land the person which is responsible for the lighthouse.) 5. It might be wiser to swim in the other direction (ie leading to the ground) – you certainly have a more big target to reach, so getting blown his way is not an issue. I wonder if there is such a veil or local diving club for you that could be able to help, both preparatory information, and on the big day?

Autism Parent Training – 2 Autism Screening Tools that every parent should know about!

Training autism parents

In 2007, the Center for Disease Control Autism and Development Disabilities Monitoring Network (ADDM) found including 1 150 8 years "in the different characteristics of the titular nation of autism spectrum disorder. A few years ago autism was said the culture in 4-5 per 10,000. This means that the prevalence of autism has risen to epidemic levels in the persistent a lot of years. That is why most every parent needs to be educated in autism screening tools, if their child shows signs of autism. Parent Training

This article will discuss two screening tools for autism to give myself are effective in the diagnosis of autism numerous. Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of a child's life. It is defined by a unique set of behaviors and is considered a spectrum disorder. " This means that a child may have different symptoms that go into a spectrum. Autism is often diagnosed by doctors, care workers personal health or special education.

Two effective screening tools for diagnosing autism are representing CHAT the checklist for autism in young children, and cars that stands for Early Childhood Autism Rating Scale. Both will be discussed today, and WHO can use these tools to diagnose autism.

1. CHAT Checklist for Autism in Toddlers is a short questionnaire which is completed by parents and a health primary care (usually child's physician). CHAT is advisable to give all children their 18 months: check up. Chat consists of two sections: the first nine items are questions answered by parents and the last five items are observations by workers in primary health care. These articles examine the behaviors that in the absence of 18 months, putting a child at risk of social disorder-communication. These behaviors are the following: a. joint attention, including pointing to show and looking for the place where one parent is pointing, and b. play at pretend. The items are then scored, and a determination of success or failure is given. Children who are rescreened in one month, and if they fail again should be referred to a specialty clinic or Dr. for further testing. Autism Parent Education

2. CARS Childhood Autism Rating Scale is a 15 point rating scale of behavior that helps to identify children with autism and distinguish them from other children with disabilities. Professionals such as doctors, special educators (after age 3), school psychologists, speech pathologists and audiologists who had only minimal exposure to autism, can easily be trained to use cars. This is one reason why I love him so much, he does not need a long training before use.

Each of the 15 Articles cover a particular characteristic, ability, or behavior. The person responsible for the CARS ask questions of parents. based on 15 articles. The parents' responses will be used to give the child a score. Children who score above a given point are classified as having autism. CARS also provides a determination if the child has mild, moderate or severe autism, based on the score of the child on cars.

It is a wonderful bonus for parents as it helps to understand what their children are linked to autism have. By understanding what effective screening tools for autism are available, parents can ask their doctor to use one of screening tools, if they are concerned. If your child is of these tests, you must take them to a clinic or a doctor who is experienced in the treatment of children with autism.

They must order a full battery of tests to determine the strengths of your child and weaknesses, and what special education services they need. Do not take these screening tools in lieu of further testing, but will help you get started. Good luck! Do not let your child suffer more! Lead your child's world through autism Parent training program now!

What is autism? Diagnosis of autism, signs, early intervention and treatment

Autism refers to a spectrum of disorders where the child has impaired social interaction skills, communication skills and demonstrates restricted and repetitive stereotyped behaviors such. Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects the ability of the child to understand what he / she sees, hears and senses which causes problems in social interaction, communication skills (and the use language) and unusual behavior and interests. Children with ASD do not follow the typical patterns of child development and behavior can vary from mild to severe.

Signs of Autism

Early identification of Autism ideal is that early intervention and treatment has been directly linked with better outcomes for children with autism. Babies are social beings. Since the beginning of life, they turn to familiar voices, look at their parents, smile and are comforted by hugs and touch. Many young children with autism have difficulty developing these skills and early forms of interaction in both sense.

The causes of autism are unclear but research supports a genetic component, then a break in the normal development brain. There may be multiple factors or causes that lead to autism and the search will find those answers. Twin and family studies have suggested an underlying genetic vulnerability to autism and other studies have shown that one of the causes of autism may be abnormal brain development from the first year of the child's life.

How autism diagnosed?

Ideally a diagnosis of autism team to assess and diagnose autism. The team should be composed clinicians specially trained in the diagnosis of autism and understand a pediatrician, clinical psychologist and speech therapist.

Can a doctor really produce results of a study linking vaccines to autism pediatric?

I read as a PhD Professor manufactured results of a study that linked childhood vaccines to increase the incidence of autism. Is this true? What exactly happened, and why some parents continue to insist on the prevention of vaccinations? Has been making more widely advertised?

The thing vaccine to autism is linked to the MMR vaccine and thimerosal. Dr Andrew Wakefield has made a report published in 1998 and published in The Lancet claiming that MMR causes autism has been found to have faked his reports and was paid for it by a lawyer and a board of legal aid. Dr Wakefield and some of his associates are currently face charges in court because of the false statement. The majority of children used in the study of signs of autism documented in medical records prior to receiving the MMR vaccine. Many associates have discredited Wakefield their report on the MMR, including The Lancet. Shortly after This report was made, Japan removed all MMR countries, but it is still March 2005, they noted that cases of autism continued to rise. Moving http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/life_and_style/health/article5683671.ece on thimerosal, a mercury additve was used in vaccines, PERSERVER (was never in the MMR). In the United States in 2001, thimerosal was removed from all vaccines except the flu vaccine cons (now you can get the vaccine against influenza with or without thimerosal), and all other vaccines containing thimerosal expired in 2003, but continues autism increase. Last year the United States, federal courts ruled that vaccines do not cause autism, if there was reasonable doubt, how could they make such a decision? Autism affects boys four times more than girls, whether vaccines cause autism why it affects boys four times more than girls, vaccines are not made and given in terms of your gender. I do not think one second my autistic son was caused by another vaccine, never has and never will be examined.

People with autism – with autism and obsessive-compulsive

People autism

After yet another side of the tail of toys or scene ever the same behavior over and through It is not uncommon for parents to wonder if their child can have not one but two disorders – Autism and OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). OCD is a neurological disorder that causes obsessive thoughts and behaviors and can greatly disrupt a person's life. There are two main elements of obsessive-compulsive thoughts or obsessions and compulsions or behaviors.

The obsessions are experienced as thoughts, images or impulses and can be persistent. Whereas compulsions are repetitive behaviors that the patient feels compelled to do if they want to or not. The performance of repetitive behaviors is usually done to reduce distress or prevent a particular event. It is common for people with autism spectrum disorder to also display repetitive behaviors and have repetitive thoughts, comparable to those who suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a condition that makes it generally uncomfortable with people with symptoms, and they want can get rid of them. On the other hand, children with autism are usually unconcerned with their various obsessions or behaviors and may even see them as comforting, increased frequency during stressful situations as a mechanism of restraint. There are two possible treatments of autism and obsessive-compulsive-like behaviors: behavioral therapy and medication. Often, these two forms of therapy are prescribed together. people autism

The most common kind of prescription drugs for treating OCD behaviors in autistic people are the SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake). SSRIs are antidepressants that have also shown to be useful in reducing behavior Obsessive-compulsive disorder. However, they can come with some serious side effects, including increased risk of suicide. Parents whose children are on SSRIs should monitor behaviors closely and report anything unusual to a health professional.

Behavioral therapy may be another way to reduce the recurrence behavior, but it is not a treatment that has been found consistently effective for all cases of autism. This is due to the fact that two cases of autism are exactly the same. Therefore, before a behavioral therapy is selected to meet autism and OCD symptoms, an IQ test and / or functional cognitive level test is usually administered.

Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) works well for lower functioning children or young children, and cognitive behavioral therapy can show good results for the higher operating high, more verbal children with autism. For best results, it is often recommended that behavioral therapies and medications are combined. The drug is usually prescribed to help the child become more open to behavioral therapy. Since behavioral therapy can be difficult – especially as most children do not see OCD behaviors as undesirable – medication can make a difference by encouraging children to be open to suggested changes.

Although autism and OCD can occur in the same individual, it is much more common for children with autism to simply display behaviors that are similar to those of OCD, but are actually part their symptoms of autism and not a separate case of obsessive compulsive disorder. Nevertheless, we believe that autism and obsessive-compulsive function of repetitive thoughts and behaviors are quite similar in the early stages of development, but become dissimilar over time as they are often different functions in both disorders.

Coping with autism and OCD at an early age should be a priority to ensure that childhood experiences of ordinary life such as early education occurs more easily. The obsessive-compulsive symptoms least one child
autism has generally, the more positive experiences of educational life and will be. Do not let your child suffer more! Everyone knows about autism in young children?

Is KNO person of autism in children. My son thinks he doc is a little signs of autism. He is now 4 and juice begins to talk, but always in the range of about 1-3 years. It is sometimes hyper he doent return to phycis. Til June. Are there any good videos that could help him learn? He thpy speech. to pre-school and really hyperactive at home, sometimes I do wut KNO to do! Sometimes I cry I'm so tired of yelling at him and tell him to sit down cuz he knows wut it means.

Have him evaluated for autism by a qualified person (developmental pediatrician, psychiatrist, psychologist, neurologist, etc.) to your pediatrician can give you a reference. You can also contact your local school board for an evaluation that is no cost to you and to be able to receive early intervention services, but you would need a diagnosis from someone who is qualified as described above in order to receive treatment / services outside school. I'm leaving this link has wonderful resources to help you as the organizations / groups for parents of things for your son, as software you can free download and a variety of online / activities at home, a variety of games including games of speech activities help fine motor and gross – the development of cognitive functions, language skills of memory, and, and much more. I enumerate here, but Yahoo only allows 10 links and they have much more than that to offer you and you know which ones would be most useful to your son and yourself. http://graphicpieces.com/autresrce.html

Log in autism and feeding – the pieces, autism and Add

Autism and lactation

One of the most neglected connections for SIDS, autism and ADD may be common, the mattress every day that many parents unwittingly bring home to put in the cradle of their baby. The typical mattress is made from many materials and laced with chemical flame retardants to meet federal standards for baby products safe. This does not mean that any mattress baby is particularly safe for your baby. Some studies link childhood serious problems and even Death to the crib mattress toxicity.

mattress toxicity is related solely to fumes that Degas materials from which the product is manufactured. The materials and fabrics in many typical mattress include vinyl, polyester, acrylic, memory foam, and cotton. With exclusion cotton, much of the product is manufactured from synthetic materials that are made from petrochemicals. Even foam
memory, which is a favorite for adult mattress is made from synthetic materials and releases toxic fumes that degas over time. href = "http://autism-review.blogspot.com/?tid=articlebasebio"> autism and breastfeeding

Federal Regulations are also strict requirements for companies to include flame retardant materials that are manufactured with chemicals that will discourage the fire while the baby is asleep. While the purpose of this is to protect the child deaths by fire, these chemicals may inadvertently expose them to another health hazard. A child is so small and the respiratory response is not as strong as an adult, so imagine a child trying breathing in the fumes freshly manufactured materials laced with various chemicals. Besides the various research that points to the development of autism, SIDS and ADD in children who are exposed to toxic mattresses, it is the simple reason that the chemicals could lead to breathing major health problems in young children.

What should a parent do? The safest action to take is to buy mattress baby crib safety is not poisonous, but from natural sources. There are many crib mattresses available today which are made from cotton, wool and natural latex, and combinations of all natural materials. Of course, there are no chemicals fireproof involved since federal regulations for individuals to buy these items if the manufacturers to specify the contents and warnings. If you interested in avoiding toxicity Cot mattresses and the possible consequences of SIDS, autism, and add as well as other health problems, there are many online vendors that specialize in bedding non-toxic for children. Autism and Breastfeeding

Recent college graduates, the difficulty in finding a job? Suggestions?

I graduated in December 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. I have a GPA 3.3 and am a member of the honor society National. Currently I am completing an internship with an agency of human services working with children with autism and other behavioral health problems. I have 3 years of experience working with children. I also attended numerous training conferences and my field. I was applying to jobs in different places, but have not heard back yet. I had help writing my resume vitae and letter of a Human Resources employee. But no luck … Am I apply too early (because I'm not available til December)? How can I get employers to look in different places look at my resume?

many jobs are not thought to December – are you looking for in socail services section of the newspaper?
