Common Signs Of Autism
If a child loves spinning objects and bumps his head when he is frustrated, are the signs of autism?
My 20 month old nephew has always like objects that rotate. For trucks and toy cars, it always turns upside down and spins the wheels. He loves the fans too. When he is frustrated, it can sometimes head banging. He does not randomly … Only when he is frustrated or not getting what he wants. My sister took her to the doctor and the doctor said the child is banging his head like that sometimes, and it is more common than people realize. He told her not to worry. My nephew seems to respond normally to his name, and he knows a few words. It is also the point where the eyes, ears, nose, stomach, etc if you ask him, and he loves books, he loves when people read it. He will come and ask you to read books to him (it does not yet speak in sentences, but it will bring books more and give them to you and sit next to you and expect you to read them). It seems very responsive to me, but I was wondering if anyone has info. Thank you!
Love the spinning objects and tap the head as his sign of being a young 20 months. Of course, children with autism may all these things. But this is not the classic "signs" of autism by themselves be a suspect for autism. Many normal kids do. If that's all he does is unusual, so it does not autism.
