Coeliac Autism

I have a question about autism?
My son has autism, he also has celiac disease. He is on a diet gluten-free which helped a lot, but he still gets stomach pain. Why does my son hit his head on the floor when he has his troubles. Is it because of his autism and not all children hit their heads on the ground when they are in pain. I hope that if I can understand why he does I can help to stop hitting his head like that.
Some children with autism bang their heads to cope with problems sensory or voltage or when they feel unwell. Strange as it sounds, banging his head makes him feel a little better. It is a way for him to calm down and cope with pain.
