Whenever I feel something happening three or more times, I'm careful. In conversations at a recent Wellness Expo, where we were exhibitors, three different people asked if I knew all the programs, music or sounds that might be useful with children (or adults) with autism or autism spectrum disorders. It is rare to get such a claim repeated in a very short period of time. I thought it might be useful to pass along some information.
The description of this condition of the Canadian Society for Autism is rather disappointing. Their website, "People with autism spectrum disorders have varying degrees of difficulty in social interaction and communication and may show repetitive behaviors and have unusual objects or routines. Autism is the most common neurological disorder affecting children and one of the most common handicaps development that affect Canadians in general. TSA to change the way the brain processes the information and can affect all aspects of the development of a person … Each individual is unique – no one person responds with an ASD or behaves exactly like another with the same diagnosis. "
Many young children with autism spectrum disorders experience a disconnect between the ear and voice. Some children are unable to speak or to distinguish between important sounds like the mother of Appeal and the background noise of a fan, for example. For this reason, they may experience hypersensitivity to sounds.

The more I explore the research on music and sound, the more I realize the incredible fundamental, it affects us at all levels existence. Humanity has never been without music and there are more reasons than just the entertainment.
