Autism Sleep Disorder

autism sleep disorder
I have a question on autism and depression?

I was born with autism and for the last 3 months I was sad. I also have physical problems such as eating and sleeping. If you do not know what autism is a disorder where you socialize very little or not at all. In addition, they are sensitive to the feelings and hearing. Could I have depression and autism, at the same time? I am not to take medication for autism.

Absolutely having a disease "(I hesitate to call autism, particularly high-level yours is obviously a condition that is offensive to many people with autism!) does not mean you can not have another. Here is very very recent study confirm this: Stewart ME, Barnard L, Pearson J, Hasan R, G O'Brien, 2006 Depression is common in autism and Asperger syndrome, but despite this, there has been little research on this issue. This review considers the current literature on the prevalence, presentation, treatment and assessment of depression in autism and Asperger syndrome. There are diagnostic difficulties when considering depression in autism and Asperger syndrome, the characteristics of these disorders, such as social withdrawal and appetite and sleep disturbances, are also symptoms of major depression. Impaired verbal and nonverbal communication can mask the symptoms of depression. Associated symptoms with autism and Asperger syndrome as obsession and self-injury may be increased during an episode of depression. There is a need important to develop specific tools both for diagnosis and measurement of depression in autism and Asperger syndrome to help alleviate the distress caused by this treatable disease. I think you can obtain the full text of this article www.pubmed.org http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?cmd=Retrieve&db=pubmed&dopt=Abstract&list_uids=16522713&query_hl = 69 & = itool pubmed_docsum but you may have to pay … try searching on the web? Anyway, I am sure that the treatment will be the SSRI drugs Basic, but I would of course recommend first major psychological methods more effective in the long term, and less likely to have side effects! The cognitive-behavioral therapy works well … All the best, I hope it helps!
