Autism Counselling
I have a child with autism Aspberger, anyone have info on education, the needs and medication?
My child will be 13 this year and a diagnosis of this 2 years ago. What I want to know is does it really need to be on drugs? Does he need to go board? It is very violent when he does not get its way, is this normal? What are the signs of Aspberger? What can I do to provide the best environment for him? I have so many questions. Should he go to a boarding school where another to a regular school where he is misunderstood or special needs school in the area in which we live? Please I need help!
Where you live could be a factor. Here in New York on Asperger syndrome is considered autism and opens the door to all sorts of resources in the school system. But the away from a residential area it is more difficult to find qualified suppliers. Only you and your doctor who knows your son could really take a decision on Meds. Under NCLB public school can not require your son to be on drugs to attend private schools may still in need. The board has really helped my agreement with his daughter differences, she was diagnosed at the age of 6 years in the first year but had been receiving counseling for two years before the private sector. Each child is different, and it's a long road of trial and error, contact your school and ask them if they have a special education PTA. Parents know best what is available in your school and in your area.
