Autism Information
Autism is a disorder of life. It interferes with the ability of a person to understand he or she sees, hears and touches. For this reason, a person with autism is very difficult problems of how to behave properly and interact with other people. The person has to teach behaviors that develop normally in most people. Autism varies its degree of severity among individuals.
Autism is a common term for a range of disabilities medically classified as pervasive developmental disorders (PDD). Autism / PDD is characterized by qualitative differences in cognitive development, language, social or motor skills, and these are usually apparent before the age of three years. Research suggests that autism may result an underlying difficulty with expressive movement and its regulations, the gravely difficult to keep body movements, including sensory responses, in control.
There is no single known cause, but it is generally accepted that autism is caused by abnormalities in brain structure or function. Brain tests show differences in form and structure of the brain in autistic children against children without autism. The Studies of twins and siblings suggest that there may have a genetic component. In addition, an increased frequency of occurrence is noted in people with genetic syndrome such as Fragile X syndrome and tuberous sclerosis.
Autism is a spectrum disorder. The symptoms and characteristics of autism may arise in a variety of combinations, from mild to severe. Autism is defined by a certain set of behaviors, but children and adults may have a combination of behaviors in a certain degree of seriousness. Two children with autism can act very differently from each other and varied skills. The list of symptoms and behaviors associated with autism is long, and each affected person expresses his own combination of these behaviors.
Autism is a disorder that appears in early childhood, causing delays in several basic areas of development like learning to talk and interact with others. Symptoms of autism are highly variable, as well as the impact of the disease: some autistic children have only minor problems, while others have more barriers overcome.
Many children with autism engage in repetitive movements such as rocking and twirling, or in the behavior self-abusive, such as biting or head banging. They also tend to start speaking later than other children and may refer to themselves by name instead of "I" or "me". Autistic children do not know how to play interactively with other children. Some speak of a singing voice of a few favorite themes, with little regard for the interests of the person to whom they speak.
Communication is often severely impaired in autism. What the person understands (receptive language) and what is actually spoken by the person (expressive language) is significantly delayed or absent. The language comprehension deficits include an inability to understand instructions simple questions or commands.
People with a form of autism called savantism possess uncommon knowledge in specific areas such as music, art, and figures. People with savantism are able to perform these skills without lessons or practice.
