Aspergers Syndrome And High Functioning Autism

What are the potential consequences of a misdiagnosis? Have you experienced?
I'm struggling with whether I whether Asperger syndrome. This is a "high functioning" form of autism. I am taking steps to obtain a diagnosis or better yet, a confirmation that I did not. I have two fears. Firstly, I have this "disorder". Second order I may be mistaken with the credit. I'm still between denial and acceptance and I would rather have the truth.
be ill diagnosed you can get the treatment that you do not need and can lead to not making any progress, can sometimes hurt your self esteem and how you see yourself.ia been diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome years ago and many people treated me like I was never going to be able to function in the community, but I am now 41 years old, married, have been employed for four years, also my GED.if you feel you were misdiagnosed, get a second opinion, if this way you can get proper diagnosis and help you need.
