Aspergers Autism Difference

What is the difference between Asperger syndrome and autism?

I believe that Asperger syndrome is sometimes referred "High functioning autism." Autism is not really something that affects everyone who has the same, so why it is called being on the "autistic spectrum". Asperger's is at the beginning when, as its name suggests, sufferers are able to function well relativley in terms of intelligence and social functions, but obviously they still have trouble sussing social interactions with others, and observing the signs of when it is appropriate to talk in a conversation, etc. They are still very "literal" in that they would probably not understand the sarcasm, but they often manage to go to school, college, university and get a job and so on. Lower in the spectrum, people with autism would perhaps begin to show less social skills, less language skills, they may perhaps have learning disabilities or behavior, and, although it is not always prominent. Its really the lowest level, the more serious of autism and it affects the person in their daily lives. Autism is in itself a very broad spectrum and people can be affected by it to very different. Hope this helps a bit!
