Aspergers Autism

What is the difference between "Asperger's" and "High Functioning Autism?
I used to think Asperger is a form of high functioning autism, but I notice that some people make a distinction between the two. What is the difference?
Autism and Asperger syndrome are very different before the age of 3 .. People with autism (Kanner-type) a problem with the actual production sounds, or some sort of delay in their ability to speak. Those with Asperger's have any kind of delay in their speech, and never have the inability produce sounds. Therefore, the diagnosis of Asperger syndrome may come later than 3 years. The high operating term usually refers to those who are capable of transmitting intelligence, and able to maintain independent living independent of others (parents, care takers, etc..) Much more Asperger-type fall into this category is Kanner standard. This is probably why some consider Asperger's as a type of HFA even if it is not. If put two adult high functioning side by side (a type Kanner, Asperger's type) I really do not know the difference.
